Ingredients

  • 1 Loaf Italian bread
  • 1 Tbsp Olive Oil
  • Seasonings of Choice I used salt pepper and steak seasoning
  • 1 pound ribeye steak
  • 1 bag of pepper blend green pepper, red pepper and onion
  • Cheese slices of choice I used Colby Jack Swiss and Smoked Provolone

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400°F.
  • Slice the loaf of bread lengthwise into two halves.
  • Place both halves of the bread onto a baking sheet, cut side up.
  • Hollow the center of each bread so that the Philly mixture can sit in the groove.
  • Slice the meat into thin strips. Season strips with salt and pepper and set aside.
  • To a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil. Once the oil is hot, add the pepper and onion blend. Cook, stirring frequently until soft (about 10 minutes).
  • To the same skillet over medium heat, add the ribeye slices.
  • Using a spatula, chop and shred the meat.
  • Continue cooking until the meat is cooked through but not crisp
  • Divide the meat equally between both halves of the bread. Then, top each with the pepper and onion blend. Top with sliced or shredded cheese, ensuring all the meat is covered with cheese. Bake for 5-10 minutes or until golden brown. Then broil on high for 5 minutes to get the cheese bubbly brown.
