Craving Taco Bell but want to skip the drive-thru? I’ve got you covered! Today, I’m sharing how to make one of Taco Bell’s most beloved menu items right at home: the Crunchwrap Supreme. It’s easy, customizable, and perfect for the whole family!
What is a Crunchwrap Supreme?
If you’ve never had a Crunchwrap, it’s a delicious, layered wrap filled with seasoned beef, nacho cheese, crunchy tostada, sour cream, fresh veggies, and melted cheese. It’s folded into a neat, handheld wrap that’s grilled to perfection. The combination of textures—crispy and soft—makes it irresistible!
Ingredients You’ll Need:
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 packet taco seasoning
- Large flour tortillas (burrito-sized)
- Tostada shells (*we used Doritos for extra flavor)
- Nacho cheese sauce
- Shredded lettuce
- Diced tomatoes
- Shredded cheese (cheddar or Mexican blend)
- Sour cream
- Olive oil or cooking spray for grilling
Optional Add-Ins:
- Guacamole
- Jalapeños
- Refried beans
- Your favorite hot sauce
Step-by-Step Directions:
1. Prepare the Beef Filling
Start by cooking the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat. Once fully browned, drain any excess fat and mix in your taco seasoning according to the package instructions. Let it simmer for a few minutes to soak up all the flavor.
2. Lay Out the Tortilla Base
On a large work surface, take one of your large flour tortillas and spread a layer of warm nacho cheese sauce in the center. Then, add a scoop of the seasoned beef on top.
3. Build the Layers
Now for the fun part—layering! Place a tostada shell or Doritos on top of the beef. Spread sour cream over the tostada, then add shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and a sprinkle of shredded cheese. You can add any extras, like guacamole or jalapeños, at this stage.
4. Fold the Crunchwrap
This part is key to making it look just like Taco Bell’s version. Carefully fold the edges of the tortilla over the center, making sure to enclose all the filling. You’ll end up with a neatly folded wrap.
5. Grill to Perfection
Heat a skillet over medium heat and lightly grease with olive oil or cooking spray. Place your Crunchwrap seam-side down and cook for 2-3 minutes until golden brown. Flip and cook the other side for another 2-3 minutes until crispy.
6. Serve & Enjoy
Your homemade Crunchwrap is ready! Serve it with your favorite sides like chips, salsa, or a fresh salad.
Tips for the Perfect Crunchwrap:
- Don’t Overfill: It’s tempting to stuff your wrap, but keeping it neat will help when folding and grilling.
- Seal the Deal: Press down gently while grilling to get that perfect crunch and seal the edges.
- Get Creative: Switch out the beef for chicken, steak, or even a vegetarian option like black beans or sautéed veggies.
Why Make it at Home?
Making Crunchwraps at home is not only fun, but it’s also more budget-friendly and healthier than the fast-food version. You control the ingredients, so you can add as much or as little as you want. Plus, it’s a great meal to customize for picky eaters or dietary preferences.
